Who gives manicure to world stars? [Part 2]

A list of nail stylists and their celebrity clients

We welcome you to our new section!

Not so long ago, we made the first part of this list with celebrities` nail stylists’ names. Time to continue our list, because we have not told you about all the technicians.

In this part, you will find out who does the manicure for Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, and Riana, how famous technicians are inspired to create their nail masterpieces and what path many of them have gone to work with celebrities. Let’s get it started!

Britney Tokyo

Celebrity clients: Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande, Rita Ora, and Hayley Bieber.

Nail stylist Britney Tokyo lives in Los Angeles but was born and raised in the Japanese capital. The pseudonym also speaks about the origin of the girl and the style that she adheres to in the nails design.

Britney’s works are the best illustration of Tokyo’s Harajuku district’s style, where they prefer to put on all the brightest and most unusual at once. The design combines flashy colors, crystals the size of a nail plate, lots of jewelry, and three-dimensional patterns.

The first celebrity client of Britney was Vanessa Hudgens, but later the celebrity base increased. On Kim Kardashian’s nails, Britney drew kimoji (a set of emoji depicting Kim herself), Harry Styles’s nails decorated with children’s drawings of fruits for the promo of his Fine Line album.

Britney believes that her success depends entirely on practice (she regularly trained in nail design on her friends) and loyalty to her vision and style.

Miho Okawara

Celebrity clients: Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Kesha.

Miho Okawara was born in the Japanese city of Nagoya, where she began to get involved in nail design. Later, the girl moved to Tokyo and, like her colleague Britney Tokyo, settled in Los Angeles.

Miho’s work style is often called innovative – she was one of the first who used wire with beads in nail design and drawn 3D drawings. However, she is not alien to more simple works, for which Kesha often turns to Miho. Also, Lady Gaga and Beyonce are her regular clients.

Okawara has a lot of authority in the nail industry – she runs her own MiHo NAiLS salons and seems to know everything about the most topical nail design options for the next few decades.

Betina Goldstein

Celebrity clients: Kendall Jenner, Salma Hayek, Nicole Kidman, Chiara Ferragni, Bella Hadid, Zoe Kravitz

The career of nail stylist Betina Goldstein began in 2014, when, without any experience in the field of beauty, she volunteered to help on the backstage of one of the fashion shows. Everything went well, and the girl started to run an Instagram profile, thanks to which she became famous all over the world.

Betina admits that in her nail art, she does not pursue ostentatious wealth and luxury. Her works differ from the usual luxury designs: no unnecessary rhinestones, glitter, crazy lengths, and brand logos. Goldstein strives to ensure that the manicure looks modern and is combined with the wardrobe of modern girls who love simple dresses and wear masculine style, prefer monochrome, and can correctly place accents.

Here are Betina’s recommendations to her colleagues for inspiration and neat manicure:

  • I like modern art. Most of my new ideas come from museum exhibitions and galleries. Another source of inspiration is vintage clothing: patterns on the fabric, its texture.
  • An oil-based acetone-free nail polish remover is a great way to keep your nails from weaker after coating.
  • For my clients, I always recommend applying a small layer of cream on their hands and wearing cotton gloves before going to bed.
  • The secret to a good manicure shot is in natural light. Find a soft light, such as near a window. Use walls to create a reflection effect. It will make the skin of the hands in the picture more matte and provide a pleasant, even light on the nail’s surface.
  • Don’t imitate other people’s work – this is a surefire way to get lost in the crowd. It’s essential to find your unique style and stick to it. Be confident in your work, and your audience will find you on their own.

Jenny Longworth

Celebrity clients: Rihanna, Harry Styles, Lana Del Rey, Jess Glynne.

When it comes to Jenny Longworth, Rihanna’s long nails come to mind. The singer and nail stylist have been friends and have worked together for many years – Longworth once has done Rihanna’s nails on the cover of a special edition of I-D – Rihannazine magazine.

Shooting and shows of Gucci, Chanel, and Lanvin also rarely do without Longworth. On her Instagram, you can find works with animal prints and minimalistic and marble patterns.

Jenny has recently collaborated with Harry Styles. They met thanks to Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele.

Marian Newman

Celebrity clients: Lady Gaga, Angelina Jolie, Kate Moss.

British nail stylist Marian Newman began her career in the field of manicure back in the late 80s. Since then, many techniques and trends have changed, but Marian managed not only to keep afloat but also to become one of the best in the industry.

The girl regularly collaborates with fashion houses Louis Vuitton, Tom Ford, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, glossy magazines, and celebrities. It was Marian who was one of the first to release on the catwalk models with pearls and spikes on the nails, feathers and half-painted fingers, and not just a nail plate.

In April 2019, Marian published the book “Nailed It: Nails, Fashion, Technique,” the first part of which is autobiographical. Marian talks about her career as a manicure stylist and admits that only a few people know about her as a person.
